About

Being a funeral celebrant is much more than standing at the front of a service and speaking about someone who has died. For me, it is about people, listening to their stories, understanding what mattered to them, and helping families create a service that feels truly personal and reflects the person they loved.
Over the past 16 years, I have had the privilege of supporting many bereaved families at one of the most difficult times in their lives. Every family is different, and every person has their own story to tell. My role is to take the memories, stories and little details that families share with me and gently bring them together, creating a service that feels authentic, meaningful and fitting.
I believe a funeral does not have to be solely about sadness. Of course, there will be tears, but there can also be warmth, laughter and moments that bring a smile as families remember the person they knew and loved. I try to capture the character of each individual rather than simply recounting the events of their life.
From the welcome at the beginning of the service, through the tribute, music, readings, family contributions and farewell, I carefully consider how each part connects, so that the service feels natural and personal rather than formal or impersonal.
For me, one of the greatest privileges of being a celebrant is knowing that, for a short time, I am entrusted with someone's story. I treat that responsibility with great care.
My aim is simple: to help families say goodbye in a way that feels right for them, to celebrate a life, acknowledge the loss, share the memories and, above all, make sure the person at the heart of the service is remembered for who they truly were.
It is an honour to be invited into people's lives at such an important moment, and I never take that trust for granted.
