How listings, rankings and reviews work

Claimed listings

A claimed listing is controlled through an account linked to the celebrant. Claiming lets the celebrant correct their profile, write their biography, add photographs, choose ceremony types and service areas, publish prices and manage enquiries. A claim confirms control of the matching account. It is not a professional accreditation.

Unclaimed directory listings

Some short listings were assembled from public celebrant directories so people can find practitioners who already advertise their services. They are labelled “Directory listing”. They may contain only a name, area, ceremony type and public website. We do not present that limited record as a completed or verified profile.

Unclaimed records are kept out of prominent search features when they lack useful detail. A celebrant can claim their record or ask for a correction or removal through the contact page.

Publication and search eligibility

A self-managed profile cannot be published until it has a photograph, at least 80 words of biography, one service area and one ceremony type. Search engines are given a stricter signal: thin profiles and weak location pages receive a noindex instruction until they pass the directory quality rules.

Location and specialism pages need enough complete matching profiles before they enter the XML sitemap. This prevents hundreds of near-empty combinations from competing with useful pages.

How directory order is decided

Directory order uses the listing plan, profile completeness, published review history and recent profile activity. Standard and Premium plans include a ranking boost. Premium profiles can also appear in featured positions. Paid position is a commercial feature, not an independent judgment that one celebrant is better qualified than another.

A paid plan cannot make a suspended profile public, bypass the minimum publication checks or turn missing information into a verified claim. Families should still read the whole profile, speak to the celebrant and check the matters important to their ceremony.

Review standard

New reviews enter moderation before publication. Reviews must describe a genuine experience, identify the reviewer, avoid private information and stay relevant to the celebrant’s work. We can withhold spam, impersonation, threats, copied material, undisclosed promotional reviews or claims that cannot responsibly be published.

Celebrants can respond to a published review. Anyone can report a concern for moderation. Reporting is not a private route for removing fair criticism. We may ask for enough information to understand the booking or ceremony without publishing that information on the profile.

Checks to make before booking

• Confirm what the quoted fee includes and when payments become non-refundable.
• Check who completes the legal marriage formalities in the relevant UK nation.
• Ask about insurance, training or memberships if they matter to you, then verify them with the issuing body.
• Agree the ceremony scope, writing process, travel costs, cancellation terms and backup arrangements in writing.
• Never rely on a directory badge alone as proof of identity, qualification or availability.

Optional listing badge

Celebrants can add a Listed on Ceremony Master link or badge to their own website if they want to. It is voluntary. It is not part of publishing, ranking or claiming a listing. The supplied wording is a brand link to that public profile. It is not a verification mark, a professional membership or an endorsement of quality.

Corrections, complaints and removals

Send the profile URL and the exact issue through contact. Choose “Report a listing” for inaccurate details, impersonation, rights concerns or removal requests. Booking disputes remain between the customer and celebrant, but we can review whether a listing or review breaches these standards or the site terms.
