Account holders
We process account data (name, email, password hash, role), listing content celebrants, venues and suppliers publish, enquiries you send or receive, reviews, and billing identifiers if you pay through Stripe. Stripe is an independent controller for card data. We never see full card numbers.
Customer accounts exist so you can send enquiries and come back to them. Enquiries are stored so the relevant celebrant, venue or supplier can answer them and so we can investigate abuse. We do not sell enquiry lists.
If you have an account, marketing email about directory updates is optional and is only sent if you ticked the box when you created your account. You can ask us to stop at any time using the contact form. This does not cover the professional outreach to celebrants described below.
Venue and supplier listings
When a venue or supplier creates a partner account, we process the business name, contact details, listing content, photographs and enquiry messages needed to run the membership and publish the profile they choose to make public. Enquiries submitted on a listing are forwarded to the partner and retained for delivery, moderation and abuse prevention.
Celebrant profiles created from public sources
Ceremony Master is a free directory of UK celebrants. To build it, we may create a basic profile for a celebrant, or contact a celebrant about being listed, using business information they have made public so that they can be found for celebrant work.
What we hold: your name, the area you work in, professional affiliations (for example membership of a celebrant body), your business contact email, your website and social media links where you have published them, and a record of the emails we have exchanged with you.
Where it comes from: publicly available professional directories, search engines and business listings, and data providers.
Why we use it: to run a free UK celebrant directory that helps couples and families find a celebrant, and to invite celebrants to claim, update or remove their listing.
Lawful basis: legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR). We have weighed our interest against yours. The information is business contact detail that you published so that people could find you for celebrant work. Our use of it is directly relevant to that work, the listing is free, we hold only a small amount of information, and you can opt out at any time with a single reply.
How long we keep it: if you ask us to remove an unclaimed profile, we delete the profile data. We keep only your name and email address on a suppression list so that we can honour your objection and do not list or contact you again. If you claim your profile, it is covered by the account holder section above.
Who handles it for us: service providers for database hosting, email delivery and analytics, acting on our behalf and under our instructions. We do not sell your information.
Your right to object
You have the right to object at any time to us using your information in this way. To have your profile removed and stop all contact, reply to any email from us or use the contact form. We will act on it promptly.
Measurement and security
If Plausible is configured, it is cookieless audience measurement. If PostHog is configured, it records page views and join/claim events on the EU host. Cloudflare Turnstile, when enabled, is used to reduce spam.
Your rights
To ask for a copy, correction or deletion of your data, use the contact form. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
