Hi, I’m Richard, The Wessex Celebrant, residing in Hampshire all my life is was encouraged by family and friends to complete the required training and embark on this amazing and for filling journey as a celebrant.
When asked to assist with a celebration of life, for me the most rewarding part is knowing that I’ve helped create something truly personal and meaningful while helping a family honour someone special. Being trusted to share such important moments in people’s lives is a real privilege, and knowing that the time I’ve spent with a family, and the words I’ve shared, have brought comfort or lasting memories is what makes being a celebrant so incredibly satisfying.
For weddings or vow renewals, my approach is simple: I take the time to get to know you both, understand what makes your relationship special, and then create a ceremony that feels genuinely personal to you. I want your ceremony to sound like you, rather than something that could belong to any couple. I’ll guide you through the process, suggest ideas and help with the wording, while making sure you always have the opportunity to personalise things along the way.
I believe it’s the personal touches that make a ceremony memorable. I don’t work from a set script or simply repeat the usual wedding wording. I use the stories, personalities, humour, memories and little details you share with me to create something unique to you. My aim is for your guests to smile, laugh, perhaps shed a tear, and most importantly, recognise the couple at the heart of the ceremony.
You can expect a relaxed, friendly and professional approach from our first conversation through to your wedding day. I’ll be there to guide you, answer your questions and make sure you feel comfortable with what we’ve created together. I’ll also make sure the ceremony is well prepared and rehearsed beforehand, so when the day arrives, you can simply relax and enjoy the moment.
