About

Hello! I’m Richard, and I write and deliver wedding ceremonies, vow renewals and civil ceremonies across North Yorkshire and beyond.

My approach is simple: it’s not about me, it’s about you.

Every ceremony I write is built from scratch around your story. No templates, no generic scripts with your names dropped in. We start with a relaxed Zoom chat, and I’ll ask you everything: how you met, what makes you laugh, who matters most, and what you’d rather I didn’t say. The details you almost didn’t mention are usually the best bits.

What makes my ceremonies different is that people actually enjoy them. I’m told they’re meaningful, emotional and funny, often within the same five minutes. I’ve spent years as a Training Manager teaching presentation skills, more than a decade in the wedding industry, and fifteen years as a Supporting Artist and singer in TV and film. So I’m comfortable in front of a room, and I know how to read one. Whether your guests need a laugh, a tissue or both, I’ll get the balance right.

Working with me is straightforward. You get as many Zoom calls as you need, and as many drafts as it takes until every word feels like you. There’s no limit on revisions and no extra charge for getting it right. On the day I arrive early to check everything with your venue, so by the time you walk in I’m calm, prepared and entirely focused on you.

I trained with the Fellowship of Independent Celebrants, achieving the NOCN Certificate in Celebrancy in 2020, and I’ve since officiated over 250 ceremonies. I’m also a three-time award winner on Hitched, which is based on couple reviews. That’s the part I’m proudest of.

Outside of work you’ll find me walking my dogs Mabel and Freddie, riding my old Kawasaki Vulcan, or being an extra in something you’ve probably watched. I also won Come Dine With Me, to my wife’s enduring astonishment.

If that sounds like your kind of celebrant, get in touch. No obligation, no pressure, just a chat about your day.
